a great table

This little table needed a lot of love.  The price had been reduced 3 times at the Goodwill ~ obviously, no one was seeing its potential.

I'm actually surprised to see how good it looks in the 'before' pictures.  A little deceptive, if you ask me!

I sanded the top down to the bare wood.  There was one really deep scratch that I was unable to completely remove ~ I can picture how it probably happened… imagine a toddler, with a fork, just going to town on it!

 Great lines on this piece.
I primed & painted the bottom.

I actually liked the look of the natural wood with the white base.  However, I've found that when I'm selling pieces, the darker stain seems to do better.  Anyone else had experience with this?

It is perfect.  I left it un-distressed for some reason, just couldn't bring myself to attack it with the sand paper.

See the scratch in the top right corner?  The dark stain helped to camouflage it, but it's still there.  Character, right?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. My favorite combination - dark stain & white/off-white paint! :) Especially when it's done to a table that was reduced 3 times! Looks great!

  6. The top is gorgeous! I know what you mean about not distressing something! You have to let the piece 'talk' to you! And you did!! It's beautiful.
