old violet

Y'all are so funny about my crooked pictures post :)

I had fun with this one.  I painted it in Old Violet Chalk paint and went to town with the dark wax.

Before, it was pretty blah.  Even with a bicycle helmet on, it was blah :)

I went sparingly with the wax at first, but then stepped it up.

Now remember, when you see this "after" shot, I'm no longer able to move furniture around by myself (wimpy old broken right arm!) so I can't get a really good staged after shot :(
I am tickled with it!  And, it is already sold :)  Makes my day!  Happy Tuesday, everyone!

  6. This is a great technique and your work is absolutely gorgeous. I'm also jealous. Evidently, we don't have chalk paint in Arkansas, Tennessee or Missouri. What a bummer!

Is it very expensive? I'm getting ready to do a dresser for my granddaughters, and I'd love to have some of this to do it with.

  7. Here is a GREAT source for chalk paint…

    http://www.chalkpaintnorthamerica.com/Where-to-Purchase.html

Not only can you buy it from them, they give you lots of options for other places to purchase also!

It is pricey, but you don't have to prime & it takes a lot less time, so I think it is worth it!!

  8. So happy to see you have used Old Violet, I painted a piece today and really like the color but can't decide if I should use just the clear wax or the dark. It is a bow front (?) dresser but other than the feet and the mirror there really isn't any decorative details. Looking forward to your next post!
