tone-on-tone dresser

The tone-on-tone look is a new one for me.  I usually go for contrast, but got out of my comfort zone for this piece.

Before:

It was missing the top two pulls when I got it, but I loved the 4 handles and really wanted to keep them.  Only problem was, once the piece was painted, the handles just seemed bulky when I went to put them back on.  So I took a gamble and primed/painted them to match.  And I really like it.

Here it is when I was still debating about the pulls:

Like a lot of pieces lately, this one never made it out of the garage before it was loaded into someone's truck ~ how do y'all handle that?  I hate to miss the photo opp :)  But here she is (and she is a 'she' for sure) :

My garage floor is lovely, isn't it??  Now that is what I call a 'labor of love', y'all!

our new addition

Friends, meet Sissy!

It was my birthday yesterday (37 seems so… OLD!) and in honor of the occasion, we adopted a new feline friend.  She is 13 weeks old & weighs just under 2 pounds.  As sweet as she is, she is totally holding her own with the 'bigs' (aka our two other cats).  We're in love!

Here she is facing Sam down.  {This is also a sneak peek of my new kitchen curtains!}  Sam, as you might remember, is our 10 month old kitten that we rescued last November & bottle fed until he was old enough to eat.  Here's a reminder:

Sam is in love with Sissy, too.  He is following her around like a smitten teenager, practically begging her to play with him.  It is quite adorable (and exactly what we hoped for).

This gal, however, is just irritated…

Sadie is (at least) 11.  We got her from the Humane Society for my birthday in 2001, and they told us at the time she was between 1-2 years old.  She's a happy girl, but was totally over the playful kitten in Sam, so Sissy is Sam's new playmate!

Sissy has settled right in :)

Now, onto Pillow news…

The mate to this pillow is still MIA.  I cannot express enough thanks to those of you who have gone out hunting at your local Home Goods or TJ Maxx stores!!!  Seriously, I appreciate y'all SO much!  But so far, nothing :(  I'm not giving up though!

Hope you're having a great Monday, friends!!

have you seen me?

The hunt for a pillow…

Friends, I am in need of your help!!  I found this pillow at Home Goods in Norcross, GA the other day. I love it.  And, of course, I need two.  (Can you see where this is going?)  There was only one in the store.

I've spent more time over the last few days than I would ever care to admit hunting for this pillow's mate.  Such a silly thing, really!  But nevertheless, I would love to have one more.

I've been to just about every Home Goods in Atlanta (with the exception of Cumming & Marietta) as well as a bunch of TJ Maxx & Marshall's stores (I've heard they carry a lot of the same inventory).  All to come up empty handed.

IF you're out & about, and you see this pillow, would you grab it for me?  I would happily send you a check & a huge THANK YOU!!!

The only identifying mark is on the tag ~ it is made by the Canaan Company.  It was $29.99 from Home Goods.

One last look:

Love to all!!!

C family's kitchen table

Somehow I didn't get a before of the table, but I did get one of the chairs.  And the 'after' pictures are with my iphone!  Sorry :(

This set belongs to some dear friends of our family.  I was so tickled when she asked me to refinish them for her.

Chair before:

I painted them & recovered the seats… after:

They turned out SO pretty!

Here is the rest of the set.  I stripped & sanded down the top of the table, then refinished it in something called English Chestnut ( a new one for me ).  I painted the legs & apron to match the chairs.

After, back in their home:

Love!!

happiness is….

Having a neighbor who was about to throw this out….

But thought to ask me if I might want it first!

Uhm… YES, please!!

Now my hardware collection has a true home & I can see it all at once.

Bliss.

Have a great day!

one huge headboard bench

Sadly, you're going to have to use your imagination on this one.  I've searched & searched for a 'before' of this headboard and have come up with nothing :(

It started as a king headboard, with a full sized headboard used as the sides.  My husband built it & I painted it.  It might be my favorite one yet.

You can check out my other headboard benches here, here, here and here!

Despite the persistent high temperatures, the leaves are starting to fall here in Atlanta.  Very odd.  But today we woke up to delightful winds and lower temps and it makes me so happy… I'll even take the rain with the cooler weather!

Thanks for coming by!

vintage enamel-topped cabinet

A client brought me this really cool vintage enamel-topped cabinet to transform.  I don't know about y'all, but I remember in my granny's house in Memphis there were all sorts of things in her kitchen just like this.  Such a unique piece!

Here it is before:

I updated the hardware & painted it first in Old White, then Paris Gray chalk paint, distressed, waxed & called it a day.  It is perfect!

(You're getting a sneak peek here of my kitchen cabinets that I also painted in Paris Gray… but no distressing!)

Such a sweet little piece!

thanks for stopping by!  have a great weekend!
