This piece is so classic that I can't imagine I won't repeat it the next time I get the opportunity. I only got a before shot of half of it, so here is what you get:
Sorry about that ~ but I think you get the idea. I found this piece on CL and although it was about an hour away, it was only about 5 minutes from my inlaw's home, so it was perfect! I also picked up a table as part of the deal (she wanted to sell it to me… I politely declined… so she begged me to just 'take it'.)
I painted it in my trusty color matched Heirloom white, distressed it & added rope knobs. I had ripped the back off of the hutch since it was cheap, nasty & falling apart and was trying to decide what to do with a new backing when my friend Kim suggested burlap. Genius. I attached a few layers of batting so that it would have a little depth to it and then wrapped the back in burlap. And it sold a few minutes later :)
After:
(The shelves & doors to the hutch have glass inserts that were very carefully wrapped up, so I left them wrapped up for my client ~ thus, they are missing in the pictures!)
thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteKathy- Great job and what a fine piece it turned out to be. Inside every ugly duckling is that swan waiting to be found...unless you get a even uglier duckling- Looks like you found the swan! xo Diana
