sweet pieces for a nursery

Hi everyone!  What a gorgeous weekend we had here in Atlanta ~ I am feeling for all of you up in the northeast who got hit with that awful storm.  Praying you are staying warm!

Our across-the-street neighbors & dear friends found these pieces on craigslist & wanted them transformed for their baby girl, who is due to be born right around Christmas!  What an honor!

To give you an idea of the kind of people these friends are, my children will often go over to ask if Evan can come out to play… Evan is the soon-to-be daddy!  And most days, the answer is 'yes', Evan can come out to play :)

They weren't much to look at to begin with…

As a bonus, they gave us the headboard, which will soon be a bench!

They wanted single glass knobs, rather than the original pulls.  So we filled the holes, primed & got painting.  I painted with ASCP in Old White, but found quickly that I needed to prime to cover up that gorgeous yellow finish :)

The top of the side table was in the worst shape ~ you can see that here:

Almost there:

And the final pictures, in their space in the nursery, with some bonus shots for fun!

This blue piece is fabulous, isn't it?  It is from Nadeau in Buckhead.

Do you see the white splotches?  Soon-to-be-daddy & his helper (who may or may not be married to me) were not very careful moving this across the street.  They thought they could just cover up the marks with some fresh paint… forgetting that there is obviously a finish coat on this!  Sigh… I'll be touching that up myself :)

The nightstand was perfect, but they wanted it a little taller.  Easy solution:  add feet.  The chair is the same chair soon-to-be-mommy was rocked in as a baby ~ isn't that something?  They gave it a fresh coat of paint & are having a cushion custom made.

Now look at the lining of these drawers… How many of you know a man who would voluntarily offer to line drawers, without being asked??  He will make a good daddy, thats for sure!

Can't wait to meet sweet baby girl!!

  5. Those came out beautiful. I just love the glass knobs. Gorgeous. I am from New York and you can't believe the mess that storm has caused us. Schools cancelled, trick or treating cancelled in some towns because of so many power lines being down...crazy!!
