A Give-Away! I appreciate y'all!

WOW!  Just WOW!

I was thinking the blog would get to 200 followers sometime in the next couple of weeks.  And I've been just tickled to death over it.  However, this morning while we were at church, we went from 197 followers to 206.  Y'all!  I can hardly believe it!

Last I checked, we were at 209.  Amazing.

I really can't express how thankful I am for all of you.  For joining me on this crazy journey, for your support, your input & feedback, and especially for your "funnies" (that's what we call them at our house).  I have gotten so much happiness out of this blog & the whole blog community.

Since I had SO much fun doing the last giveaway, I was super excited to do it again, and do I have something great for you!

My friend Becky has a new blog called Kings Down Road & a new Etsy store (also called Kings Down Road), both celebrating her love of all things vintage.  She has so generously offered to give the lucky winner $50 credit at her etsy store!!  Thank you, Becky!

In addition, I'm adding something to the package... a $50 visa card.  So, the lucky winner will get $50 in awesome vintage goodies AND $50 to play with (my mother-in-law calls it "mad money" and I love that).

What do you have to do to win?  There are several ways to get yourself entered into the giveaway (sorry for the terrible grammar, Betsy B!)...

*Become a follower of the blog!  If you're a follower, you automatically get one entry.  Thats one chance out of 209 at this moment.

*For an EXTRA entry, go to Becky's etsy shop & let me know what your favorite piece is by leaving me a comment here.  Make sure to check out the incredible Gucci salt & pepper shakers :)

*For a THIRD entry, go to Becky's blog and leave her a comment that you've come visiting from A Few Good Pieces.

Phew!  I'll leave the Giveaway up until Friday of this week, October 15, at midnight.  And I'll try to remind you as we go through the week!

As I've said before, what's a good blog post without a furniture before & after?

A sneak peek...

You'll probably remember these pieces from my finds last week...

Four of these chairs (only one with arms... or 'arm' I should say!).  I repaired it, don't worry.

And this table.

I painted the chairs & the base of the table in Heirloom White.  I sprayed them.  Don't hate me.  But chairs are SO hard to paint with a brush and Rustoleum's spray paint is just too good to resist sometimes.  And it just didn't seem worth it to get out the compressor & sprayer for such a small job.  Do y'all have that problem?  Clean-up is a bear with the sprayer!

They got a good coat of Kilz Complete (brown label) primer first and then the paint.

I sanded the top down to the bare wood and stained it dark walnut.  I also redid the chair seats, starting with new foam & then new upholstery (it might look familiar if you've seen my dining room curtains).

That's my 8 year old using the power sander.  Only for a second, or I would have made him wear glasses, ear plugs & a mask!
After the first coat of stain.
Chairs being primed & painted.

Table is just about there now.

And...

Trust me, I know the seats clash with the curtains.  It pained me to have them there even for just a few minutes :)  But they are safely in a more neutral place now!

Many, many thanks to Amanda at The Hand Me Down House for featuring me & A Few Good Pieces today.  Amanda has a great thing going over at her blog ~ lots of home improvement, creativity & more so go visit her and check it out!!  Her story is also so special - there is a hint of it in the name of her blog.  Welcome to all of you coming here from Amanda's blog :)

Now y'all, get going on the give-away!  Thanks for coming by!
Kathie

  7. For the record, your grammar was just fine! :-). LOVE the elephant bell at Becky's store. Not that you asked, but the vintage fan sent shivers down my spine - remind me to show you my scar from one of those suckers - there's a reason fans now have more protective frames around them!!!

  22. I love the Vintage Coffee Carafe! I actually saw that same one tonight at Goodwill, minus the lid - I LOVED it and looked at it for some time. But we are really short on cash this month so I put it back...it felt better on my conscience to put it back than to buy it. =)

  23. Hi Kathie! I have a question...how do you decide how much to charge for a certain piece of furniture? Like I found a gorgeous curvy full/queen bed at a garage sale for FIVE DOLLARS because it was banged up a little. I'm excited to try my hand at fixing it up but I have honestly NO clue what to charge for it. How do you figure out what your time is worth?

I have recently become fascinated with the concept of finding pieces that need some love, fixing them up, and selling them for a little side money all my own!

I'm excited but...have never done it before. So I don't know, I hope I don't hate it! But like you said, YOU CAN DO IT so I really think I can! It'll be tricky but I'm used to selling things on Craigslist and I think this could be really fun for me now that my older four kids are in school and I have just 3 little ones at home.

You can email me at sherahtaylor @ comcast.net. Thanks so much!
