heavy

The title of this post is not creative at all ~ just accurate.  This is the heaviest piece, by far, I've ever worked on.  It has NINE heavy drawers (3 behind each cabinet door & 3 in the middle) and it is certainly lighter without all of those, but even with all the drawers out, it is still serious stuff.

Are these the worst 'before' pictures ever?  Sorry…

During…

I painted it in Annie Sloan's country gray, which is really more of a khaki to me.  Then sanded, waxed with clear and finally waxed with a teensy bit of dark.  I also stripped & stained the top in dark walnut.  I was able to use two of the original drawer pulls (the two on the top drawer) but the rest were broken.  So I filled holes & made do with what I had.  I like the combination of all the different but similar hardware styles.

I am really tickled with this piece.  And it is already sold, which is always nice!

thanks for stopping by!  We're enjoying a fabulous weekend away (thanks for all of the 'happy anniversary' wishes!) and I have one more good post to share before we get back home, so stay tuned.
