dresser, meet hutch

meet hutch...
a perfect union!
I am thrilled with how this turned out.  Really, really thrilled.  It feels great that it turned out even better than I had hoped, especially after the china cabinet recently felt a little off.
The details on both of these pieces are perfect.  Don't you love the trim on the dresser?
I went with the oil rubbed bronze pulls that I used on my free-to-me credenza.  I'm so glad I did!
I filled it with things that are special to me.  Two of the items, the framed prints & the box purse, belonged to my husband's grandmother.  I thought she was such a special lady, and I am proud to have some of her things in my home now.

I think I have a buyer for the china cabinet, so I am holding off on changing the back of it for now.  I did fill it with some beautiful, darker things so that helped a lot.  Thanks so much for your suggestions! One of the oil paintings (the one on the top, if you can see it through all the shadows & reflections) was something my mother-in-law and I found at an antiques store on Tybee Island.  The one on the bottom shelf was actually a paint-by-number that my grandfather (my dad's dad) painted!  Isn't it fabulous??

I'm off to pick up my sweet niece at preschool.  Hope you all have a great day!

  1. Both pieces turned out absolutely beautiful!

  2. Both are gorgeous. I wish I had somewhere to put those in my house. If you come across a corner cabinet for a dining room or white bookcaes for Ansley's big girl room (she has my old iron bed) let me know! Everything looks fantastic!

  3. Absolutely beautiful! Girl, you work fast! Btw, I have a box purse like that, but I did mine as a pre-teen and put owls on it. My mother brought it to me recently. The clear coat I put on it certainly did not stand the test of time. It's badly yellowed, but a treasure to me still! Have a great weekend!

  4. Wow! That's gorgeous! I want one! Visiting from A Little Knick Knack.

  5. you may hear me say this a few times...I AM SO IMPRESSED! I need you to come redecorate my house!

  6. Beautiful!!! I love how you brought the two pieces together! Don't you just love when things turn out better than you had hoped!!? Great job!!

  7. Love this and want this.. So cute. Great job.

  8. What a great transformation! Its amazing what some paint will do. Please stop over to my blog on Sunday for my Show Off Sunday Party. I would love for you to share your project with my followers. :)

  9. This is so wonderful! You did an amazing job. These are the projects that make me smile the most, because people can see the potential that an old piece has and make a beautiful new piece out of it! Stopping by from remodelaholic's link up (:
